Mrs. Duncan's Fifth Grade Science Class

I'm looking forward to a great school year!  My bachelor of science degree in education was received from Columbus State University in Columbus, GA in 1998.  I am an Army brat and my husband is retired from the military.  At the time I received my degree, we were stationed at Ft Benning, GA.  Since my husband is from Troutman, NC, we decided to make our home in NC on a small 16 acre farm.  Its a beautiful state and we are very happy here.  We have two sons, one daughter-in-law, one grandson and a future daughter-in-law come May.  Life is good.
In science class this year, we will be studying a wide variety of topics.  First quarter includes matter, heat and the water cycle.  Second quarter will be all about weather and genetics.  Third quarter brings cells, the human body, and ecosystems.  Fourth quarter rounds it out with force and motion.
Students keep a science notebook of their classwork and notes in the classroom.  They are welcome to bring it home whenever they like as long as they bring it back for class the next day.  Any tests given will be written in their student planner and date stamped by me.
