I knew as a child that God was calling me to be a librarian when I attended a training with my grandmother who was a retired teacher and librarian regarding starting a library at our church. I began following that calling and dream by attending Appalachian State. I received a BA in Elementary Education in 1997 and a Master's Degree in Library Science in December of 1999. I began my career in the fall of 1999 at East Bend Elementary where I stayed for 10 years until I had the privilege of opening the media center at Forbush Middle in 2009. I enjoyed the challenged of middle schoolers but decided it was time to go back to the elementary level. I joined the Yadkinville Elementary family in the fall of 2017. I worked on my National Board certification and gained it in 2004 and have renewed that certification in 2013. In 2016, I achieved my media advisory degree from UNC Greensboro that has opened the door for me to serve as lead teacher librarian in Yadkin County. I wear many hats as a teacher librarian but my favorite ones are helping teachers find resources for their lessons, and helping students find a book that they will enjoy reading.
Feel free to stop by for a visit and see if you can find a book that you can say when you are finished reading it, I really enjoyed it!
Happy Reading, Pumpkins!
